Abstract in English
In this work, a Fortran program was developed using a finite difference method for the solution of a non-linear partial differencial equation governing the unidimensional heat transport in a column of non-satured sand with variable boundary conditions (temperature interval considered -20°C to 25°C). The problem of the phase transition from liquid water to ice and vice versa was also considered, the program simulated the fusion and solidification that occurs along the column, accompanied by experimental results obtained by NMR tomographic images, validating the model adopted in the particular case of this experiment. The increments considered by the program relative to the position of the fusion/solidification front was maintained constant throughout the simulation. The concept of a mass balance was used to control the increments of the program with respect to the time variable. Thermal conductivity measurements for the non-satured sand sample of 37% total porosity and 25% volumetric humidity, were performed within the -20°C to 25°C temperature interval, using the transient method for a cylindrical probe. The results agrred with those of Gori and G. Grazzini (1981) and H, Inaba (1983). A study was also made using the method of differential thermal analysis, for the heat flux in the region adjacent to the water transition phase contained in the sand column. From these results and from the initial boundary conditions of this experiment the importance of the porous medium over the thermal properties of water was evident
