Abstract in English
A new method to prepare mulite ceramic (3Al2O3-2SiO2) by sol-gel process is presented. Sols are prepared from isopropanol aluminum alcoxide (aluminum sec-butoxide), silicium alcoxide (TEOS) and acetylacetone mixture the water for hydrolysis reaction is gotten from ambient moisture (slow hydrolysis method). The influence f solvent concentration and the sol/atmosphere contact area on the gel characteristics was investigated by BET and infrared spectroscopy techniques. The calcined gels are chemically homogeneous under EDX microssonde analysis; they crystallize at so low temperature as 980°C. The typical temperatures of hydroxyl and organic compound elimination, phase transformation and respective mass losses slong the various transformation attained by gel were determined by DAT and TGA techniques. The crystallographic phases evolution under heat treatment was investigated by x-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. It was observed at 980°C occur the formation of a mixture mullite/Al-Si spinel phase that transform into orthorhombic mullite at temperatures greater than 1250°C. An average diameter of 280nm was obtained after 500°C calcined gel ball milling. The samples obtained by uniaxial or isostatic pressing and the treated at 1550°C presented low density that was related to low amount of water used in the hydrolysis reaction of precursor sol. A research on the behavior of BET superficial area of gels of silica/alumina gels obtained by different methods of preparation and precursor is also reported
