Introdução: A dor cervical é qualquer dor localizada na região anatômica do pescoço com a presença ou não de irradiação para cabeça, tronco e membros superiores. Apresenta-se com variações na intensidade, duração da crise, sintomatologia e intervalos entre os episódios de dor ao longo da vida. Objetivo: Estimar a prevalência da dor cervical atual e nos últimos 12 meses em adultos, na cidade de Aracaju, Sergipe. Método: Estudo transversal com adultos entre 18 e 59 anos residentes na área urbana de Aracaju, Sergipe. Foram avaliados os dados sociodemográficos, prevalência da dor cervical pontual e em 12 meses, intensidade da dor foi avaliada por meio da Escala Numérica da Dor (END) e a limitação funcional pelo Neck Disability Index. Resultados: Participaram 242 adultos, onde 27,7% e a maioria do sexo feminino (57,4%) e apresenta de 28 a 38 anos (32,6%) sentiram dor pontual durante a entrevista, enquanto, 72,3% não sentiam dor alguma no momento, no entanto, 66,1% dos participantes sentiram dor nos últimos 12 meses. Das pessoas que sentiam dor no momento da entrevista, a média de intensidade foi 6±4,76 e 85,1% apresentavam nível de incapacidade (leve, moderado e forte). Conclusão: A prevalência de dor cervical pontual e nos últimos 12 meses foi alta entre os adultos, a intensidade de dor foi moderada e com incapacidade funcional. Os resultados demonstram que a prevalência de dor cervical é alta e pode influenciar diversos aspectos na vida do indivíduo

Introduction: Neck pain is any pain located in the anatomical region of the neck with or without irradiation to the head, trunk and upper limbs. It presents with variations in intensity, crisis duration, symptomatology and intervals between pain episodes throughout life. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of current neck pain and in the last 12 months in adults in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe. Method: Cross-sectional study with adults between 18 and 59 years old living in the urban area of Aracaju, Sergipe. Sociodemographic data, prevalence of neck pain at one time and at 12 months, pain intensity was assessed using the Numerical Pain Scale (END) and functional limitation using the Neck Disability Index. Results: 242 adults participated, where 27.7% and most females (57.4%) aged between 28 and 38 years (32.6%) felt punctual pain during the interview, while 72.3% did not. felt any pain at the time, however, 66.1% of participants felt pain in the last 12 months. Of the people who felt pain at the time of the interview, the mean intensity was 6±4.76 and 85.1% had a level of disability (mild, moderate and strong). Conclusion: The prevalence of punctual neck pain and in the last 12 months was high among adults, the pain intensity was moderate and with functional disability. The results demonstrate that the prevalence of neck pain is high and can influence several aspects in an individual's life
