Abstract in English
The recovery of patients with head and neck cancer depends on the malignancy of the disease, and the interventions needed for treatment. The performance of a multidisciplinary team is essential for the prevention, reduction of deficiencies and complications, and the promotion of a faster recovery with less functional impact. One of the tools available in healthcare for quality progression and patient safety is the Lean Six Sigma methodology, with a set of practices that maximizes processes and provides defect/waste-free performance improvements. The objective of this study is to analyze and describe the outpatient speech therapy rehabilitation program for individuals with CCP at ICESP using the Lean Six Sigma methodology, between January/2018 and December/2020. The results were sets of findings that propose a reformulation in the mapping of the rehabilitation process with the team, as well as the modulation to the complexity of the clinical profile of individuals by statistical evidence, resulting from a methodology such as Lean Six Sigma, which generates the opportunity to improvement of the service provided and the clinical and financial benefits to the involved clients, institution and patients. This study suggests the application of specific actions in the rehabilitation sector with speech therapy to reach the rehabilitation time in up to 90 days
