he neuropsychology is a branch of science in which the psychology and the neuroscience interact in order to understand the interrelationship between cognitive functions, their brain systems, and their influence on human behaviour. This area of study encompasses the possibility of understanding cognitive functioning through a neuropsychological assessment and treating the impairments found. It is possible to find a vast literature, with different test options to measure the same function, making it possible to select the one that the professional who is qualified for such an exercise finds most suitable for the context and target audience that is working. This type of assessment can be applied in several areas, one of them to identify postoperative cognitive dysfunction, a possible cognitive impairment resulting from a surgical procedure with the use of an anaesthetic. Currently, the use of digital games, which are playful, accessible and interactive tools, has grown within the performance of neuropsychology, especially in the process of rehabilitation of functions, however there is still a shortage of literature material about its use in the context of neuropsychological assessment. The objective of this study is the validation of the MentalPlus® digital game used as a neuropsychological test for the evaluation of postoperative cognitive dysfunction, comparing it with tests already standardized to evaluate executive, mnemonic and attentional functions. Several standardized tests were applied (Telephone Interview Cognitive Status - TICS, Visual Verbal Learning Test - VVLT, Brief Visual Memory Test - BVMT, Stroop Test, Trail Making Test - TMT, Patient Health Questionnaire - PHQ9, Shot Form 8 Health Survey - SF8 and pain scale) and the MentalPlus® digital game in 60 patients of the Central Institute of the Hospital das Clinicas de São Paulo, 36 women and 24 men, aged between 29 and 82 years old, before and after undergoing a surgical procedure. The results of the standardized tests were compared to the results of MentalPlus® in order to correlate the six functions evaluated in the game with their peers of the standardized tests. The short and long term memory, visual perception and selective attention functions were correlated. The inhibitory control and alternating attention functions presented discrepancy. From the results it is possible to understand that the MentalPlus® digital game can be characterized as a screening test, with potential for short and long term memory evaluation, visual perception and selective attention, requiring further studies on the inhibitory control evaluation. and alternating attention.
