Abstract in English
As gender and health studies amplify, particularly about masculinities, some questions about HIV/aids prevention emerge. Those questions cover sociocultural constructs that promote vulnerabilities for masculine populations facing the epidemic. At the current scenario of epidemic, two things stand out when it comes to men: the epidemic concentrates itself between men who have sex with men (MSM) and the main transmission path is heterosexual. Control efforts of the epidemic in Brazil focus the infection early diagnosis and treatment, as well as combined prevention intervention. This last one can be described as management possibility among biomedical, behavioral and structural strategies; those present an alternative for the prevention of men condom use only. Among biomedical approaches, consent Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (SexualPEP) is an important strategy for this work, from a qualitative perspective, which the main goal was to comprehend how men build their identity configuration. This, regarding sexuality, social representation towards HIV/aids, reasons to seek SexualPEP, all things that characterize how men use an STD/HIV specialized service in São Paulo county. At this service, took place fifteen semi structured interviews with men. We chose to present the analysis and results in categories about social representations towards: 1) sexual experience, 2) HIV prevention and risk perception, and 3) knowledge and seeking for PEP. This study allowed us to realize how much the quest for health services, as well as strategies of HIV/aids prevention are related to matters of masculinities constructions of men about themselves and how they perceive being a man in this sociocultural context
