Há algumas décadas diversas propostas de reforma do ensino em medicina têm sido conduzidas para produzir mudanças na formação profissional, na relação entre médicos e pacientes e proporcionar melhor atendimento à população. Nesse contexto, gênero e sexualidade são duas temáticas percebidas como escassas e que necessitam de maior presença, tendo em vista que essa situação reflete no cuidado com pessoas diversas. O presente estudo, de cunho qualitativo, tem como objetivo investigar se existe e como é feito o ensino dos temas gênero e sexualidade na graduação de um curso de medicina sob a perspectiva dos professores. O estudo foi conduzido em uma faculdade de medicina no Estado de São Paulo. Para sua realização foi utilizada a técnica de entrevista semiestruturada. Entrevistas semiestruturadas foram realizadas com dezesseis (16) professores responsáveis por disciplinas/unidades curriculares de diversas especialidades médicas. As entrevistas foram realizadas em ambiente virtual e com o consentimento dos participantes foram gravadas e, posteriormente, transcritas. As análises das entrevistas foram feitas após sua transcrição e leitura exaustiva, com construção de categorias de análise temáticas para a compreensão do fenômeno. Como resultado, encontrou-se pouco conteúdo na matriz curricular relacionado aos temas de gênero e sexualidade. Foi observada uma crescente demanda discente pela abordagem destas temáticas. Destaca-se a importância da dimensão geracional na perspectiva dos docentes, no que diz respeito à forma de tratar os temas e às dificuldades em abordá-las em sala de aula, na medida em que não tiveram acesso a essas discussões em sua formação. Os participantes mencionam a ocorrência de uma reforma curricular no curso objetivando maior integração entre as disciplinas/unidades curriculares, mas que não teria atendido às expectativas de ampliação da interdisciplinaridade e da maior integração entre departamentos acadêmicos. Observam ainda que a extensa carga horária do curso de medicina seria um obstáculo para inclusão de novas temáticas

For some decades, several proposals to reform teaching in medicine have been carried out to produce changes in professional training and in the relationship between doctors and patients. In this context, gender and sexuality are two themes that are perceived as scarce and that need greater presence, given that this situation reflects on the care of diverse people. The present study, of a qualitative nature, aims to investigate whether there is and how the teaching of gender and sexuality topics is carried out in medical school. The study was conducted at a medical school in the State of São Paulo. For its accomplishment, the technique of semi-structured interview was used. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with sixteen (16) professors responsible for subjects/curricular units of different medical specialties. The interviews were conducted in a virtual environment and, with the consent of the participants, were recorded and later transcribed. The interviews were analyzed after their transcription and exhaustive reading, with the construction of analysis categories for understanding the object. As a result, little content was found in the curriculum related to gender and sexuality issues. A growing student demand for approaching these themes was observed. The importance of the generational dimension from the professors' perspective is highlighted, with regard to the way of dealing with the themes and the difficulties in approaching them in the classroom, insofar as they did not have access to these discussions in their training. Participants mention the occurrence of a curriculum reform in the course aimed at greater integration between disciplines/curricular units, but which would not have met the expectations of expanding interdisciplinarity and greater integration between departments.
