Abstract in English
This bibliographical research aims to articulate the theory of Lev S. Vigotski among other authors from the cultural-historical theory with the thoughts of the art-educator Edmund Burke Feldman for a humanistic education. The work brings a discussion about the relevance of art in school education, in a transversal way besides the curricular component. It is a reflection about the role of art in refining the human psyche, promoting creative activity and its contributions to a truly liberating education. It covers some aspects of the history of arteducation in Brazil to point some of the reasons why aesthetic education is relegated to the background in our educational system. The study also points to the origins of human creative activity, its assumptions and its implications for the development of man as a cultural being, capable of changing nature and, thus, modifying himself. We present the authors' views on aesthetic education, with implications for global development, and we defend an education pervaded by art that promotes emancipation and active participation in the future of humanity itself.
