Abstract in English
This research investigates the presence of monolingual and non-monolingual modes of thought circulating in the Escola de Aplicação at FEUSP. It is presented episodes from the researcher's daily life as a French teacher in elementary school, stories that were launched as a research method by autoethnography (ELLIS, 2004, HOLMAN, JONES, 2005; JONES; ADAMS; ELLIS, 2013) and by the ideas of Bruner (1997; 2002) and Galvão (2005). The scenes were analyzed looking for traces of the monolingual and nonmonolingual way of thinking in action in her practice as a teacher, or, on the contrary, it was these events that made her perceive these ways of thinking. It is also presented, in an ethnographic approach carried out through interviews, the investigation of the ways of thinking of students from families of foreign origin at the school. The conclusion is that the monolingual and non-monolingual modes of thought coexist, in a game of forces that reflects epistemological and ontological questions of the research subjects.
