Wittgenstein na arte e na estética contemporâneas

Abstract in English
The purpose of our dissertation is to highlight the importance of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's ideas for contemporary issues of art and aesthetics. For this, in addition to highlighting the practice of artistic activities in his biography, we brought our philosopher closer to the inventor of contemporary art, Marcel Duchamp, to point out some similarities between their ideas and thoughts so that we can understand why both are so influential for the avant-garde artistic expressions of the 1960s, more specifically Conceptual Art. This influence occurs not only in the theoretical field, but also in the construction of artistic objects for three outstanding examples: Joseph Kosuth, Mira Schendel and Eduardo Paollozi. In the field of aesthetic discussions, we highlight a set of ideas developed in classes given by Wittgenstein at the University of Cambridge in 1938. The notes of these classes and conversations are analyzed and we highlight some lessons left by Wittgenstein and consequent influence for contemporary aesthetes such as Morris Weitz and Noël Carroll. Finally, we point out the vitality of his thought and ideas in approximations with current and emerging discussions of decolonialism.
