New bodies have come to constitute the Brazilian university field in recent decades, effect of the struggle of different social movements located on institutional boundaries. In this research, it is built the perspective that the movements that have taken place, due to these changes, point out, at least, two different waves of insertion of individuals in the Academy. In both, the peripheral individual with access to university education change his position in relation to the society and to the space to which he belongs. In the first wave, it is examined how curriculum innovation proposals, in addition to demands constituted by the still reduced presence of the Other, bring about changes in a more personal than collective sphere, in which the placement of the individual is more regulated by the forms of framing of the institution itself. In the second wave, it is analyzed that the massive presence of the Other, in addition to struggles undertaken during the first wave, allows advances in the discussion about the process of literary education in which these individuals are constituted. To understand the way in which restructurings are proposed in the university field and how the individuals in educational training produce positions in relation to the literary field, we conduct, surfing the different waves, semi-structured interviews with students from four different Federal Universities around the country: UFGD (Federal University of Grande Dourados), Unila (Federal University of Latin-American Integration), Unilab (University of International Integration of the Afro-Brazilian Lusophony) and Unipampa (Federal University of Pampa). From the university restructuring established in the early 2000s through REUNI (Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities, 2005), these formative spaces elaborated curriculums for the areas of Language and Literature in which the expansion of understanding of the literary field was projected, including production made by minority groups such as blacks, gays, women, indigenous people and prisoners. Institutionally projected changes mapped, we analyzed how individuals in educational training build discourses about the formative process in which they are inserted and how they position themselves within the literary field in the struggle for expansion and for legitimation of literary productions that concern their own racial, gender or social class identities and representations. Our efforts to understand the result produced in these formative spaces over the last decade lead us to data of supreme importance for the unavoidable debate, in a wider basis, about the necessary consolidation of public educational policies aimed at the expansion and quality of higher education and, more specifically, at the Language and Literature area and at the expansion of the literary field, as well as the updating of its canons as fundamental tools for the legitimation of different social representations. It is argued that the insertion of new bodies and new canons potentialize the construction of the individuals identity and allows them to take a more organized political position in the struggle for social, economic and cultural rights within the Brazilian Higher Education Institution.
