Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal a investigação dos efeitos do desencaixe entre as expectativas e as condições de concretização da ascensão socioeconômica sobre as práticas sociais, com ênfase nos seus efeitos sobre a prática política de trabalhadores/as metalúrgicos/as de fábricas de autopeças localizadas em Diadema (SP), no ABC Paulista. A análise parte de suas trajetórias sociais, familiares, escolares e profissionais, com ênfase no duplo fenômeno vivenciado na região nas últimas décadas: o alongamento da escolarização e a diminuição de postos compatíveis com as expectativas criadas pelo acesso às certificações escolares, principalmente na indústria. O estudo relaciona a realização ou frustração de projetos intergeracionais de investimento em educação e inserção no mercado de trabalho à formação e transformação de determinadas práticas sociais e políticas. A contradição resultaria em uma condição de desencaixe (hysteresis) e um consequente desencantamento das regras que deveriam (ou poderiam) tornar o jogo social justo e legítimo (illusio). Porém, tal situação não resultaria na fuga do jogo, mas no desenvolvimento de práticas para a manutenção da illusio diante das contradições em relação às verdades (doxa), por meio tanto de reorganização das práticas quanto dos discursos legitimadores da ordem estabelecida. Por meio de 10 entrevistas com trabalhadores metalúrgicos de uma fábrica de autopeças em Diadema/SP, e uma contínua observação de inspiração etnográfica, tornou-se possível materializar uma aglutinação em estilos de vida definidos como batalhadores, estruturados pela prática religiosa neopentecostal, com destaque para a sua concepção de trabalho e família. A investigação e análise apontaria para um uso das disposições religiosas como materiais simbólicos, capazes de resistir a violência simbólica e a desclassificação, e que, no contexto de hysteresis, ao deixar sua forma tácita para tornar-se logos, e ser utilizada como ferramenta para o encaixe, orientaria as práticas de assimilação e transformação da nova estruturação do espaço social, assim como as expectativas relacionadas à crença na educação como caminho de acesso a posições sociais prestigiosas.

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of the mismatch between the expectations and the conditions of achievement of socioeconomic advancement on social practices, with emphasis on its effects on the political practice of metalworkers from auto parts factories located in Diadema (SP), in the ABC Paulista region. The analysis starts from their social, family, school and professional trajectories, with emphasis on the double phenomenon experienced in the region in the last decades: the lengthening of schooling and the decrease of jobs compatible with the expectations created by the access to school certifications, mainly in the industry. The study relates the realization or frustration of intergenerational projects of investment in education and insertion in the labor market to the formation and transformation of certain social and political practices. The contradiction would result in a condition of disembedding (hysteresis) and a consequent disenchantment with the rules that e should (or could) make the social game fair and legitimate (illusio). However, such a situation would not result in the escape from the game, but in the development of practices for the maintenance of illusio in the face of contradictions in relation to the truths (doxa), by means of reorganizing both the practices and the legitimating discourses of the established order. By means of 10 interviews with metalworkers in an auto parts factory in Diadema/SP, and a continuous observation of ethnographic inspiration, it became possible to materialize an agglutination in lifestyles defined as battlers, structured by the Neopentecostal religious practice, with emphasis on their conception of work and family. The investigation and analysis would point to a use of religious dispositions as symbolic materials, capable of resisting symbolic violence and declassification, and that, in the context of hysteresis, by leaving its tacit form to become logos, and being used as a tool for fitting in, would guide the practices of assimilation and transformation of the new structuring of the social space, as well as the expectations related to the belief in education as a path to access prestigious social positions.
