Abstract in English
The cinema from the perspective of educational research was the way chosen in this work to study childhood in its symbolic and cultural dimension. The aim was to investigate how childhood is thought/imagined/configured by cinema and how childhood thinks/imagines/ configures the world, others and itself. The characters studied were: Moncho in Butterfly (1999), Thiago in Mutum (2007), Pelle in Pelle the Conqueror (1987) and Laure/Mickäel in Tomboy (2011). The methodology used was based on the phenomenology of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, on the hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur, with the theoretical approach based on the Anthropology of the Imaginary (Gaston Bachelard, Gilbert Durand), among others authors from different areas, such as cinema, childhood sociology, psychology development. The unfolding process of this research made it possible to understand important aspects of childhood, such as the student-teacher relationship, initiation processes, memory and the construction of identity. In the research developed, an integrated relationship between cinema and education was pursue, not subordinating neither of them to the other, but considering both in their potential to be formative, by providing sensitive and transforming experiences
