Abstract in English
This research has embarked on understanding the wisdom of the body and perceptual symbolic imagination existing in the phenomenon of weaving that has accompanied humanity since ancient times. To this day, women from different cultures weave, spin, embroider and sew to dress their children, carry items, create yarn paintings, decorate the house with cloths, rest in hammocks or warm family members with blankets. In addition to the utility of textile objects, what is at the root of the fact that so many women weave with malleable cotton fibers in their homes, groups or communities regardless of its origin? A journey to the Middle Vale do Jequitinhonha in Minas Gerais was made to follow the process of traditional weaving carried out by the weavers of Roça Grande and Tocoiós in the quest of understanding the images of the universe of weaving in its relationship with knowledge, the feminine, and tradition. The study considered the authors and weavers weaving practice with threads and wefts in connection with their natural and cultural environment. The investigation covered researches of an ethnographic nature containing a period of living with the weavers in which stories, life trajectories, songs, photographs and footage of each stage of the weaving process, tools and textile works were collected. During the research, a dialogue was established with the phenomenology of the material imagination from Gaston Bachelard and of the symbolic hermeneutics from Gilbert Durand to understand and analyze the images present in body gestures in its mythical relationship with tools and textile. Finally, a poetic-academic and informative text was elaborated on the images of weaving, their relationship with the feminine and ancestral knowledge of the weavers reflecting on the model of transmission of the knowledge of tradition. The research found step-by-step the relevance of cyclical images present in weaving and tradition for human development. In this sense, it suggests incorporating in educational practices (from the school or not) emphasizing the importance of teaching that values the knowledge of traditional peoples, especially those linked to the earth cycle and the images of weaving.
