Keywords in Portuguese
Educação feminina XVIII
Mary Wollstonecraft
Reivindicação dos direitos da mulher

Abstract in English
Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) wrote The Vindication of the Rights of Women (1792), considered a founding landmark of feminism, inspired by Enlightenment ideals and the events of the French Revolution (1789). Wollstonecraft wrote harsh criticisms of the situation of women of her time and concluded that female social and intellectual minority were the result of the lack of access to adequate schooling and the absence of political and social rights. Therefore, The Vindication of Women's Rights is a privileged historical source for investigating the relationship between the Enlightenment and female schooling. The primary objective of this project is to analyze the schooling project designed by Mary Wollstonecraft, especially female education, as well as the political and social demands contained in the work.
