Esse trabalho é um estudo de caso que teve como objetivo investigar o que motivou um grupo de meninas adolescentes (de 12 a 14 anos), alunas de uma escola municipal da cidade de São Paulo, a participar de um clube de ciências desenvolvido por alunas de graduação e pósgraduação da USP - Universidade de São Paulo, na escola em que essas adolescentes estudam. O projeto do clube de ciências teve duração de dois anos, com encontros duas vezes na semana no período de contraturno da escola, e contou com a participação voluntária de um grupo composto em média por treze alunas da escola e cinco alunas de graduação ou pósgraduação da USP - Universidade de São Paulo. Foram realizadas diversas atividades como: experimentos científicos, rodas de conversa, cine debate, passeios, produção de artesanatos, entre outras. Os dados foram coletados durante os encontros através de fotos, vídeos, observação participante e diário de bordo. Essas dados foram discutidos em um grupo de pesquisas, semanalmente, com objetivo de pensar e repensar o projeto do clube, e analisados a partir de referenciais dos Estudos Culturais, e à luz dos trabalhos de bell hooks. A análise dos dados mostrou que houve diversas motivações para a participação das meninas no clube, mas as principais foram: ser um espaço de exclusividade, no qual elas se sentiam confortáveis para expressar seus pensamentos e sentimentos; de diversão, lazer e ócio, no qual podiam fazer atividades não sistematizadas, de sua livre escolha; de amor e escuta; e de autoconhecimento. Com essa pesquisa, almejamos contribuir para a criação de mais políticas publicas que promovam a equidade social e a inclusão de mulheres em áreas das quais ainda somos excluídas, por exemplo, através de projetos de clubes de ciências.

This research is a case study that aimed to investigate what motivated a group of teenagers girls (from 12 to 14 years old), students from a municipal school in the city of São Paulo, to participate in a science club developed by undergraduate and graduate students from USP - University of São Paulo, at the school where these teenagers study. The science club project lasted two years, with meetings twice a week, before class time, and had the voluntary participation of a group composed on average of thirteen school students and five undergraduate or graduate students from USP - University of São Paulo. Many activities were carried out, such as: scientific experiments, conversation circles, cinema debates, tours, production of handicrafts, among others. Data were collected during the meetings through photos, videos, participant observation and logbook. These data were discussed in a research group, weekly, with the objective of thinking and rethinking the club's project, and analyzed from references of Cultural Studies, and in the light of the works of bell hooks. Data analysis showed that there were several motivations for the girls' participation in the club, but the main ones were: to be an exclusive place, in which they felt comfortable to express their thoughts and feelings; to be a place for fun, leisure and idleness, in which they could do nonsystematized activities, of their free choice; to be a place of love and listening; and to be a place of self-knowledge. With this research, we aim to contribute to the creation of more public policies that promote social equity and the inclusion of women in areas from which we are still excluded, for example, through science club projects.
