This work assumes that Scientific Literacy (SL) is a science teaching direction, and that teaching based on this conception should be able to give students a learning about the main concepts of science, knowledge about how scientific knowledge is produced and what influences this production, and help in understanding the interrelationships of science with technology, society and the environment. These purposes became known as the structuring axes of SL, which is defined as the process of inserting individuals into scientific culture - which requires hybridizing scientific and school cultures. Another element of the theoretical context refers to Epistemic Practices (EP), which we support in the work of Kelly and Licona (2018), which defines them as socially organized and interactively performed actions with which members of a group propose, communicate , evaluate and legitimize the construction of knowledge. The Inquiry-based Science Education (IBSE) was part of both the theoretical framework of this work and the elaboration of the Inquiry Teaching Sequence (ITS) - as it would be the best way to hybridize the school and scientific cultures, especially with regard to teaching and learning. Nature of Science (NOS) learning and its epistemic aspects. In this paper, EP performed in the science classrooms, as they emerge from this hybridization, were called Epistemic Scientific School Practices (ESSPs). The objectives of this work were the production of a Inquiry Teaching Sequence (ITS) entitled "The Microscopic World". To present how the weaving and articulation of theoretical references related to SL, Socio-constructivism, EP, History of Science, IBSE (with its activities scaling the research levels of BANCHI and BELL, 2008), Arguments, Explanations and some Scientific Concepts was also the intention of this thesis. Another objective was to build an analysis a tool to inquire the engagement in PECEs in the written productions of students who experienced the ITS. Another objective was to build an analysis a tool to verify the engagement in ESSPs in the written productions of students who experienced the ITS. Finally, the intention was to verify whether there is a relationship between the increasing degree of freedom of ITS investigative activities and the engagement in the ESSPs found, with emphasis on the construction of Arguments and Explanations, when they occurred. Finally, the intention was to investigate whether the relationship between the increasing degree of freedom of ITS investigative activities and 11 engagement in the ESSPs found, with emphasis on the construction of Arguments and Explanations, when they occurred. The empirical data consisted of reports produced by students after application of ITS at the Faculdade SESI de Educação (FASESP), for Natural Science Degree in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and for the three classes of the 7th grade of Elementary School II of Colégio Brasília in 2018. For the qualitative analysis of these reports, a ESSPs engagement verification tool was built, and this constituted another of the objectives of this thesis. His proposition came from the exercise of grouping examples of PE, from works in the area, together with the general and specific competences for scientific literacy of PISA (2015) and scientific practices of NRC (2012), when they had different wording but equal epistemic meanings. Each of the 24 sets forms an ESSPs which then receives a representative formulation and an engagement identification rubric. In the 146 productions analyzed, 1,418 evidences of engagement in ESSPs were found. These results are presented in two different formats: the first is more extensive, describing the interpretative work and bringing the justifications that allowed to identify the ESSPs; the other brings a systematization in the form of charts, tables and graphs. The possible contributions of this thesis are divided into contributions for two main lines: the first refers to the proposition of subsidies for the construction of the ITS, related to how to promote SL; the second possible contribution is the proposition of the engagement analysis tool in ESSPs, related to how to verify SL. An indirect result derived from the identification of ESSPs was the development of a method to differentiate Explanations of Arguments.
