Quais imagens e modos de narrar constroem uma visão coletiva da cidade em que vivemos? Como, para quem e de quem falam as autoridades políticas quando se apresentam diante das câmeras? Quais infâncias são representadas nas diferentes narrativas? Como as crianças são vistas (ou não vistas) nas mídias? Nesta tese, temos como foco estudar as cenas do cotidiano infantil em um gênero de filme percursor dos telejornais e de outras mídias, o cinejornal. As perguntas poderiam ser feitas em diversos tempos e espaços. Escolhemos a primeira metade da década de 1950, devido a datação da fonte, o Bandeirante da Tela, e por ser um momento-chave para um imaginário de São Paulo como metrópole, resultante da associação de mitos e simbologias do IV Centenário com a exaltação do desenvolvimento urbano-industrial. Assistência à infância atrela-se aos ideais de progresso e a pobreza é um dos mais marcantes elementos nas atualidades, notícias, fatos e reportagens que consistiam essencialmente em propaganda populista. Abordamos as especificidades da produção e circulação do cinejornal e, em seguida, levantamos as infâncias nas imagens e palavras narradas. Consideramos as edições como montagens da paisagem urbana e do cotidiano dos moradores, dos quais colocamos em destaque as crianças. Além do cinejornal, preservado na Cinemateca Brasileira, analisamos outros documentos, como dados filmográficos, relatórios, atas, boletins, anúncios, notas e reportagens, localizados em diferentes arquivos e repositórios digitais.

What images and ways of narrating build a collective vision of the city in which we live? How, for whom, and about whom do the political authorities speak when they present themselves in front of the cameras? Which childhoods are represented in the different narratives? How are children seen (or not seen) in the media? In this thesis, we focus on studying the scenes of children's daily life in a genre of film that is a precursor to television news and other media, the newsreel. Questions could be asked at different times and spaces. We chose the first half of the 1950s, due to the source dating, Bandeirante da Tela, and for being a key moment for an imagery of São Paulo as a metropolis, resulting from the association of myths and symbologies of the IV Centenary with the exaltation of urban-industrial development. The childcare policies are associated with the ideals of progress, and poverty is one of the most striking elements in the news, facts, and reports, which essentially consisted of populist propaganda. We approach the specifics of the production and circulation of newsreels and then raise the childhoods in the narrated images and words. We consider the editions as assemblages of the urban landscape and the residents' daily lives, from which we highlight the children. In addition to the newsreel, preserved in the Cinemateca Brasileira, we analyzed other documents, such as film data, reports, minutes, bulletins, announcements, notes, and newspaper reports, located in different archives and digital repositories.
