Abstract in English
This research aims to understand and analyze the prevailing conceptions and practices in the history of humanist teaching formation of the Saint Tomás the Aquino Integrated Faculties, FISTA, of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, the only confessional institution of higher education in Brazil, created and administered by the Dominican Sisters, from the Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary of Monteils, originating in France. The conceptions of man, society, world and education were evidenced in the humanist curriculum in which reflective study and thought practice were already placed as fundamental principles. What were the subjects? What values permeated FISTA's institutional practice? What was done about university teacher education? Why was it done? What are the ways of conducting practices in a singular movement that translated the relations of knowledge and power? In this perspective, the statements were fundamental and revealing a collective memory, with significant aspects of the social, economic and cultural fields. The autobiographical reports provoked concerns about the memory, the representations of teaching, habitus and values assumed by FISTA's students and teachers in the construction of their professional identities. In the light of Bourdieu's sociological theory, we grasp concepts such as habitus, practice, strategy, field, cultural capital, symbolic violence and social reproduction that broadened the analysis of the practices and knowledge experienced by the graduates, as well as the history of the Church, higher education, military dictatorship in the time frame from 1960 to 1980. It is believed that this study can contribute to an anthropological conception of curriculum in which knowledge, knowledge and culture tend to essentially humanize the relations between the subjects. School institutions are inserted in the field that do not leave them lost in time or space. They are sources of research through connected stories, dialogue between cultures, knowledge, interdependencies, advances and challenges that link the past to the present.
