O objetivo desta pesquisa é estabelecer um diálogo entre as noções de conscientização, como parte de uma proposta de educação voltada para a liberdade, tal como sustentada por Paulo Freire e a de reconhecimento de Axel Honneth, noção esta relativa ao processo de emancipação de populações historicamente marginalizadas e prejudicadas. Pretende-se, assim, delinear um corpo teórico e metodológico, a partir do qual serão analisadas as contribuições estéticas e sociopolíticas das músicas dos Rappers de Angola para o processo de conscientização da juventude do país. Outro objetivo da pesquisa que se impõe é analisar por meio de testemunhos, na forma de entrevistas, as possíveis contribuições do Rap angolano e brasileiro no processo de formação crítica de alunos do ensino fundamental, além de se constituir em uma forma de estabelecer uma conexão entre as circunstâncias de formação da consciência crítica por meio do Rap no Brasil e em Angola. A teoria da luta por reconhecimento nas esferas subjetiva, jurídica e cultural - tal como formulada por Axel Honneth (2003), bem como as ideias de educação popular libertária e da pedagogia da indignação sustentadas pelo educador brasileiro Paulo Freire (1989, 1994), podem elucidar e conferir novos contornos ao Rap enquanto movimento estético de protesto e contestação. Em parceria com professores de uma escola pública, em São Paulo, realizamos oficinas com alunos do ensino fundamental para que pudéssemos analisar em que medida o contato vivo com as mensagens trazidas por Rappers brasileiros, podem contribuir para o despertar de um olhar crítico sobre as realidades dos jovens moradores de periferia de São Paulo e de jovens angolanos.
