Livre-arbítrio
Marcadores somáticos

Abstract in English
This research aims to examine how the work of the Portuguese neurologist António Damásio on the somatic marker hypothesis can be understood in the context of the discussion about biological determinism. The debate over the relationship between biological determinism as opposed to social determinism is a secular debate. In the last two decades, some proposals have pointed out that advances in research in Neuroscience can resume this debate about human behavior. In this research we will examine this problem in the work of Damásio and as a driver for the concept of free will
