A superimitação está associada à uma atividade socialmente mediada de resolução de problemas em que há uma tendencia em copiar comportamentos relevantes e irrelevantes de um modelo, mesmo quando é possível identificar os comportamentos que são irrelevantes para a tarefa proposta. Este comportamento tem recebido atenção da comunidade cientifica e designes experimentais apresentam associação desta tendencia com mecanismos de transmissão de cultura. Nosso objetivo foi a verificação de possível relação da superimitação com funções cognitivas/ executivas, indicando vulnerabilidades destas últimas em situações em que a superimitação é prevalente. Hipotetizamos que, apesar da superimitação ser uma tarefa de resolução de problema, por estar no campo da aprendizagem social, as funções executivas/ cognitivas não apresentariam relação com este comportamento. Nossa hipótese foi confirmada através de estudos de revisão sistemática. Novos estudos experimentais são necessários para ampliar o conhecimento deste fenômeno

Overimitation is associated with a socially mediated problem-solving activity in which there is a tendency to copy relevant and irrelevant behaviors from a model, even when it is possible to identify behaviors that are irrelevant to the proposed task. This behavior has received attention from the scientific community and experimental designs show association of this trend with mechanisms of culture transmission. Our objective was to verify a possible relationship between overimitation and cognitive/executive functions, indicating vulnerabilities of the latter in situations where over-imitation is prevalent. We hypothesized that, despite overimitation being a problem-solving task, because it is in the field of social learning, executive/cognitive functions would not be related to this behavior. Our hypothesis was confirmed through systematic review studies. New experimental studies are needed to expand the knowledge of this phenomenon
