Abstract in English
Language neuroscience researches the structural and functional relationship between the brain and the language. The neurobiological substrates of natural languages receive, process and transmit linguistic codes that are processed by the speaker/listener's sensory, motor and cognitive systems. This work proposes a theoretical reflection on how the knowledge of language neuroscience can be co-interpreted with Chomsky's theory of language based on mirror neurons. We mention and exemplify empirical and theoretical problems based on the assumption that mirror neurons mediate the processing of phonetic, semantic and syntactic information. We propose a computational approach as a means of investigating the faculty of language from a neurolinguistic perspective. We suggest as a research strategy that the analysis by synthesis and Bayesian inference can clarify the nature of linguistic operations mediated by mirror neurons. We conclude that the faculty of language is irreducible to the structural and functional organization of mirror neurons.
