Investiga, à luz da abordagem psicanalítica Kleiniana, a vivência e interpretação da maternidade e do aborto induzido em mulheres. Verifica também, como as mulheres que praticaram ou tentaram praticar o aborto e como mulheres, em estado gestacional, se apresentam nas medidas de Locus of Control. Analisa se há diferenças entre os dois grupos nas três dimensões do Locus of Control e relaciona os dados de entrevistas dos dois grupos com os resultados obtidos pela mesma escala. Os Ss são 26 mulheres, divididas em dois grupos: Grupo A, composto de 13 mulheres, entre 17 e 36 anos, com tentativa de aborto, bem ou mal sucedida e Grupo G, composta de 13 mulheres grávidas entre 14 e 34 anos. Além das entrevistas, as participantes submetem-se à Escala Multidimensional de Locus of Control de Levenson. Aplica a prova de U de Mann-Whitney para verificar se há diferenças entre os dois grupos nas três subescalas (I,A e OP); os resultados indicam não haver diferenças significantes entre os dois grupos nas subescalas I e A e no escore I T, mas há diferenças significantes entre eles, na subescala OP. Para a interpretação da maternidade utiliza o estudo de Marie Langer e Elizabeth Badinter e, para a interpretação do aborto, o estudo de Júlio Aray e os de Melaine Klein. Confirma as proposições destes autores através da análise das entrevistas e verifica que as mulheres se diferenciam no uso que fazem da crença no controle interno e no relacionamento com o companheiro. Conclui, assim, que o relacionamento com o parceiro é um dos fatores preponderantes na decisão pelo aborto

The main purpose of this research was, to investigate, in the light of the kleinian psychanalytic approach, the experience and the interpretation of the maternity and induced abortion in women. The specific objectives were: a) to verify how the women who had practiced or tried to practice the abortion and how women in pregnancy status present themselves for the Locus of Control dimensions; b) to verify in difference exists between the two groups in the three dimensions of the Locus of Control; c) to relate the two groups interview data with the results obtained in the same scale. To reach goals, 26 women were interviewed divided in two groups: Group A, with 13 women with abortion tentative, with success or not and the Group G with 13 pregnant women. Beside the interview the participants were submitted to Levenson´s Mulditimensional Scale of Locus of Control. It was applied the Mann-Whitney 's U Proof to verify if there were differences between the two groups in the three subscales ( I, A e OP ) ; the results indicated that there weren't significant differences between I and A and in the score IT, but there were significant differences between them, in the subscale OP. For the maternity interpretation it was utilized the studies of Marie Langer (1986) and Elizabeth Badinter (1980) and for the abortion interpretation the studies of Julio Aray and Melanie Klein. The propositions of these authors were confirmed by the analysis of the interviews and its was verified that the women distinguished themselves by the use they've done of the belief on the internal control and on the relationship with their partners. We concluded, therefore, that the relationship with the partner is one of the most important factor of the abortion decision
