Abstract in English
This critical literature review aims to broadly understand the relationship between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism in the subjectivity of our times. For this, we take the following question, the result of an après-coup arising from the review process: Are there some gaps in between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism, that is, a condition of possibility for the emergence of another psychiatry? Initially, we went through each of the intelligibility grids, highlighting its peculiarities and most emblematic traits. Thus, we raise some paradigms between the relationship of psychiatry and liberal and neoliberal economics. Then, we articulate both rationalities, exposing their points of approximation. Next, we dive into the plot between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism. We highlight the points of contradiction and tension that allowed us to find gaps between both revised rationales. Finally, along the edges of this gap between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism, we bring some considerations from the literature regarding alternative paths for contemporary psychiatry. This review highlighted a certain battlefield around psychiatric knowledge today. We highlight the tensions that reflexively move the psi praxis. We dialogue with the proposal made by Nikolas Rose, among other researchers, who support a bet for another possible psychiatry. Despite the limitations of this review, such as the limited contribution of literature from the Global South to this debate, we offer a consistent synthesis, marked by an essayistic tone, that we hope to encourage further research into the relationship between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism. We believe that the reflections exposed here are fundamental to the psi field, especially in the current Brazilian context, in which the field of psychosocial care has suffered from a consistent dismantling. From the nothing wanting to know prevailing in the relationship between (bio)psychiatry and neoliberalism, we gave voice and time to works that bordered a certain not-knowing contained in the fissures and fringes of the articulation between official psychiatry and the neoliberal episteme
