A velocidade acelerada com que novas aplicações de inteligência artificial são hoje realizadas é fruto do potencial já observado nessas tecnologias por diferentes interesses ao longo do tempo, seja na ficção literária, nas Revoluções Industriais ou Guerras Mundiais. Essa corrida por aplicações é acompanhada, porém, de uma visão menos crítica quanto ao que as tecnologias são realmente capazes de fazer, e a inteligência artificial existente hoje é apenas um grupo de possibilidades dentre outras que, por motivos diversos, não foram exploradas. Os estudos de Piaget sobre inteligência combinados às perspectivas de Russell e Norvig sobre IA traçam um campo inicial de análise, que nos permite assumir um rigor interdisciplinar sobre do que se trata a inteligência, e a partir daí podemos ponderar, dentro da psicologia social, sobre o passado e o futuro da IA. Quando nos deparamos com o funcionamento dessas tecnologias e seu desenvolvimento ao longo do tempo, podemos identificar quais forças direcionaram sua trajetividade, reconhecer suas limitações e ter uma classificação mais nítida sobre os cenários em que podem ser aplicadas e quais pontos de atenção são necessários em cada um destes cenários

The accelerated speed at which new applications of artificial intelligence are carried out today is the result of the potential already observed in these technologies by different interests over time, whether in literary fiction, Industrial Revolutions or World Wars. This race for applications is accompanied, however, by a less critical view of what technologies are really capable of doing, and the artificial intelligence that exists today is just a group of possibilities among others that, for various reasons, have not been explored. Piaget's studies on intelligence combined with Russell and Norvig's perspectives on AI trace an initial field of analysis, which allows us to assume an interdisciplinary rigor about what intelligence is all about, and from there we can ponder, within social psychology, about the past and the future of AI. When faced with the functioning of these technologies and their development over time, we can identify which forces have driven their trajectivity, recognize their limitations and have a clearer classification of the scenarios in which they can be applied and which points of attention are needed in each one of these scenarios
