Utilizando como conceitos norteadores o fatalismo, de Martín-Baró, e a conscientização, de Freire, a presente pesquisa analisou o engajamento em causas feministas como uma possível via de elaboração do sofrimento ético-político e de transformação das atitudes de resignação, aceitação e submissão fatalistas diante de um cenário de opressão. Através do método qualitativo, a fim de apreender as nuances do fenômeno pesquisado em profundidade, e utilizando como recorte o movimento feminista, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com cinco mulheres, que residem no extremo leste da cidade de São Paulo ou em áreas adjacentes, e que se consideram feministas. O objetivo das entrevistas foi compreender se a identificação com os feminismos contribui para a desconstrução de pensamentos e atitudes fatalistas de passividade, aceitação e reprodução da violência de gênero contra as mulheres e de suas consequentes desigualdades, e se as direciona para uma ação coletiva. O método utilizado para apreciação do material produzido nas entrevistas foi o construtivo-interpretativo, de González Rey, por possibilitar uma leitura mais detalhada dos discursos e de seus significados. Os achados obtidos nas entrevistas das cinco mulheres indicaram uma diferença importante entre os discursos daquelas que exerciam, de fato, uma militância ativa por pautas feministas e daquelas que, apesar de simpatizarem com algumas causas do feminismo, optavam por não militar em grupos e preferiam adotar algumas atitudes descritas como feministas no cotidiano o que, consequentemente, mostrou aproximálas mais do campo do ativismo individual e pontual. As militantes mais atuantes se mostraram críticas ao sistema econômico, à política e apresentaram problematizações que articulavam gênero, classe e raça. Já as ativistas, descreveram incômodos mais associados à vida privada, como desejo por obter igualdade salarial, direito ao aborto e vestimentas. Através dos relatos, foi possível perceber que tanto a militância feminista como a identificação com algumas pautas do movimento foram capazes de produzir nas cinco mulheres mudanças nas percepções sobre si mesmas e sobre o cotidiano, bem como possibilitaram transformações em seus relacionamentos e nas posturas de resignação e submissão que declararam apresentar no passado

Using fatalism, by Martín-Baró, and conscientization, by Freire, as guiding concepts, this research analyzed engagement in feminist causes as a possible way of elaborating ethical-political suffering and transforming attitudes of resignation, acceptance, and submission fatalists facing a scenario of oppression. Through the qualitative method, in order to apprehend the nuances of the phenomenon researched in depth and using the feminist movement as a focus, semi-structured interviews were carried out with five women who live in the extreme east of the city of São Paulo or adjacent areas, and who consider themselves feminists. The interviews aimed to understand whether identification with feminism contributes to the deconstruction of fatalistic thoughts and attitudes of passivity, acceptance, and reproduction of gender violence against women and its consequent inequalities and whether it directs them toward collective action. The method used to assess the material produced in the interviews was the constructive-interpretive method by González Rey, as it enables a more detailed reading of the speeches and their meanings. The findings obtained in the interviews with the five women indicated an essential difference between the speeches of those who exercised active militancy for feminist agendas and those who, despite sympathizing with some feminist causes, chose not to join groups and preferred to adopt some attitudes described as feminist in everyday life which, consequently, showed to bring them closer to the field of individual and punctual activism. The most active militants were critical of the economic system and politics and presented problematizations that articulated gender, class, and race. On the other hand, Activists described discomforts more associated with private life, such as the desire for equal pay, the right to abortion, and clothing. Through the reports, it was possible to perceive that both the feminist militancy and the identification with some guidelines of the movement were able to produce in the five women changes in their perceptions about themselves and daily life, as well as enable transformations in their relationships and the postures of resignation and submission that they declared to present in the past
