Abstract in English
This work aims to know and understand aspects that involve musical performance and how it occurs in the daily life of eight professional flutists interviewed, active mainly in the spheres of teaching and interpretation, being able to transit in different contexts within the scope of Brazilian popular and/or classical music. In order to achieve this understanding and knowledge, a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach was decided on in which the various experiences of musical performance reported by the musicians, together with the theoretical contribution of the thesis, helped in the reflection on: (i) coping strategies for stressful situations in musical performance and; (ii) the relationships between musical performance, aesthetic experience, stress and coping. Research data were collected through interviews and the researcher's diary about online musical performances by each participant. Once the interviews were transcribed, we organized the excerpts used in the thesis into "Reflection Units" and summarized their central idea into "Descriptive Categories" and "Reflective Categories". The results showed that, among the many aspects that involve musical performance: (i) aesthetic experience, stress and coping are inserted and articulated with each other; (ii) aesthetic awareness can be a way of coping (or coping itself) to stress situations in musical practice. Finally, we hope that our work contributes to the areas of social psychology and music with a research that brings another approach to this language and that deals with its production and reproduction in different contexts.
