O aumento do trabalho por conta própria no Brasil tem propiciado importantes debates sobre os efeitos desse processo nas vidas das pessoas que trabalham, debates nos quais há tanto a propagação da ideia de que se trataria de uma saída adequada aos problemas de desemprego quanto a discussão de que tal crescimento resultaria em prejuízo aos(as) trabalhadores(as). Diante desse cenário, e tendo em consideração a expressiva heterogeneidade presente nessa inserção no mercado de trabalho, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar similitudes e diferenças nas vivências do trabalho por conta própria, por meio da análise de relatos de carregadores de caminhão e de trabalhadores(as) da área de Tecnologia da Informação. A partir das lentes da Psicologia Social do Trabalho, a pesquisa foi realizada prioritariamente por meio de entrevistas com pessoas inseridas nas categorias profissionais citadas, as quais atuavam sem sócios(as) ou trabalhadores(as) vinculados(as). As informações acessadas foram sistematizadas de modo a evidenciar temas que se destacaram em seus relatos, que se relacionavam com as situações enfrentadas no cotidiano do trabalho por conta própria e as repercussões em suas vidas. Por meio da análise, foi possível compreender diversas camadas da heterogeneidade presente no trabalho por conta própria, bem como elementos que, embora diversos, sinalizam aproximações entre as situações vivenciadas pelas pessoas entrevistadas. Os resultados desta pesquisa permitiram questionar a ideia de que o trabalho por conta própria seria destino viável para toda a classe trabalhadora, uma vez que representa sujeição difusa e inescapável das pessoas à ofensiva capitalista, de forma mais ou menos intensa. Ainda, foi possível compreender que o termo trabalho por conta própria acaba por conduzir a generalizações inadequadas sobre tal inserção no mercado de trabalho.

The expansion of self-employment in Brazil has yielded important discussions about the effects of this process on workers life; such debates include both the propagation of the idea that this would be an adequate solution to the problems of unemployment and, on the other hand that such growth would be harmful to workers. Given this scenario, and taking into account the significant heterogeneity of this labor condition, our investigation aimed to review similarities and differences in self-employment experience, through the analysis of truck loaders and Information Technology workers reports. Our investigation was carried out from the perspective of Social Psychology of Work primarily through the interview of people belonging to the aforementioned professional categories working without partners and without reporting workers. The information accessed was systematized in order to highlight themes that stood out in the workers reports, in connection with the situations faced in their daily life of self-employment and the repercussions in their lives. Through this review, it was possible to understand several layers of heterogeneity present in self-employment, as well as elements that, although diverse, indicate approximations between the situations experienced by the people interviewed. The results of this investigation allowed questioning the idea that self-employment would be a viable fate for the entire working class. In fact, it represents a diffuse and inescapable subjection of people to the capital offensive, in a more or less intense way, although it seems, at first sight, the opposite. Further, it was understood that the term self-employment leads to inappropriate generalizations about such insertion in the labor market.
