Uma das mudanças contemporâneas mais icônicas é constatada nas alterações do clima pelo aquecimento global. Esse fenômeno representa um dos maiores desafios globais deste século, cujo enfrentamento demanda a coordenação da ação de lideranças para a mobilização de toda a sociedade a favor da sustentabilidade do planeta. Esse desafio inspirou e direcionou esta tese para investigar a visão das lideranças que atuam no campo das mudanças climáticas e da transição energética do Brasil, no governo, na indústria e na academia, sobre a percepção pública nesse âmbito. O objetivo da tese foi mapear a compreensão das lideranças sobre os fatores que influenciam a formação e a oscilação da percepção pública sobre as mudanças climáticas e a transição energética. Essa investigação foi realizada pela aplicação da metodologia Q, a qual permite pesquisar os fundamentos teóricos, ideológicos e perceptivos tanto de indivíduos como de grupos sociais, integrando dados quantitativos e qualitativos, visando à identificação dos fatores que constroem a percepção pública da população brasileira sobre a temática no olhar das lideranças. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram a complexidade do campo das mudanças climáticas e da transição energética para uma sociedade de baixo carbono, reforçando a demanda por coordenação de lideranças conscientes e engajadas na sustentabilidade do planeta. Os dados encontrados revelaram a diversidade nos olhares dessas lideranças sobre a percepção pública com a identificação de cinco narrativas distintas focadas em: informação, eventos extremos catastróficos, questões econômicas, mudanças climáticas como ameaça, e ciência e educação como norteadores da percepção pública. Tal diversidade enfatiza o desafio para a coordenação de ações conjuntas. Contudo, a convergência de ações como a gestão da informação, da educação e da economia, associada às contribuições da Psicologia Social e Ambiental, foram identificadas como elementos-chave para a integração multidisciplinar necessária à transição energética. A partir do mapeamento produzido nesta tese, futuras investigações são recomendadas, objetivando a ampliação dos públicos abordados e o aprofundamento das análises da diversidade encontrada.

One of the most iconic contemporary transformations is climate change due to global warming. Fighting climate change represents one of the greatest world challenges of this century, the tackling of which demands the coordination of leadership actions to mobilize the entire society in favour of the sustainability of the planet. This challenge inspired and directed this thesis to investigate the vision of the leaders who work in the field of climate change and energy transition in Brazil, in government, industry, and academia, on the public perception of this field. The aim of the thesis was to map the understanding of leaders about the factors that influence the emerging and changing of climate change and energy transition public perception. This investigation was carried out by applying Q methodology, which allows researching the theoretical, ideological, and perceptive foundations of both individuals and social groups, integrating quantitative and qualitative data, aiming to identify the factors that build climate change and energy transition public perception of the Brazilian population in the eyes of the leadership. The results expose the complexity of the field of climate change and energy transition towards a low-carbon society, reinforcing the demand for coordination by leaders who are aware and engaged in the sustainability of the planet. The data revealed the diversity of views of these leaders on public perception with the identification of five distinct narratives focused on: information, extreme catastrophic events, economic issues, climate change as a threat, and science and education guiding public perception. Such diversity emphasizes the challenge for the coordination of joint actions. However, the convergence of actions such as the management of information, education, and the economy, associated with the contributions of Social and Environmental Psychology, were identified as key elements for the multidisciplinary integration necessary for the energy transition. Given the insights gleaned from the mapping conducted in this thesis, future investigations are recommended, seeking to expand the public addressed and delve deeper into the analysis of the diversity uncovered.
