A pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as noções de sucesso e fracasso profissional de jovens estudantes, com idades entre 18 e 25 anos, refletindo sobre como elaboram as trajetórias de estudo e de trabalho, perspectivas para o futuro e atravessamentos de gênero, raça e classe social. Em um diálogo crítico entre autores da Psicologia Social e da Educação, buscou-se refletir, teoricamente, sobre as noções de sucesso e fracasso no cenário neoliberal no mundo do trabalho e na formação educacional, e como elas contribuem para individualizar fenômenos sociais, reforçar a meritocracia individualista e culpabilizar os indivíduos isolados pelo sucesso e fracasso, sendo estes configurados pelo modo de vida liberal. Com isto, interrogou-se em relação à contribuição do psicólogo frente à ideologia do sucesso e para superação das desigualdades sociais. Para a análise das informações coletadas em uma entrevista semiestruturada, optou-se pela metodologia construtivo-interpretativa. O resultado indica, em geral, dificuldades de compreensão dos participantes referente ao pano de fundo sócio-histórico neoliberal como atravessador para uma construção de projeto de vida de futuro. Eles apresentaram uma tendência a compreender que apenas por esforços próprios é possível alcançarsucesso e a saída da condição de fracasso. Importante observar também as contradições que estão presentes nas narrativas e que demonstram a complexidade do processo de conscientização: se por um lado alguns participantes afirmam que o sucesso depende do esforço individual, corroborando a perspectiva naturalizante da ideologia neoliberal, por outro a questão do gênero é refletida de maneira crítica, sendo reconhecido o machismo como elemento histórico e estrutural que promove a divisão sexual (e desigual) do trabalho. A mesma percepção histórica parece estar presente na questão da racialidade.

The research aimed to analyze the notions of success and professional failure of young students, aged between 18 and 25 years, reflecting on how they elaborate their study and work trajectories, perspectives for the future and crossings of gender, race and social class. In a critical dialogue between authors of Social Psychology and Education, we sought to theoretically reflect on the notions of success and failure in the neoliberal scenario in the world of work and educational training and how they contribute to individualizing social phenomena, reinforcing individualist meritocracy and blaming isolated individuals for success and failure which are configured by the liberal way of life. With this, he questioned himself in relation to the psychologists contribution to the ideology of success and to overcoming social inequalities. For the analysis of the information collected in a semi-structures interview, the constructiveinterpretive methodology was chosen. The result indicates, in general, difficulties in understanding regarding the neoliberal socio-historical background as intermediary for the construction of a life project for the future. They showed a tendency to understand that only through their own efforts it is possible to achieve success and to get out of the condition of failure. Still, it is interesting to observe the contradictions that are present in the narratives and that demonstrate the complexity of the awareness process: if, on the one hand,some participants affirm that success depends on individual effort, corroborating the naturalizing perspective of neoliberal ideology, on the other hand, the question of gender is critically reflected, with machismo being recognized as a historical and structural element that promotes the sexual (and unequal) division of labor.
