Abstract in English
This research, entitled Self-as-context: Classification of the terms use in ACT and RFT literature consists in a conceptual work that uses an integrative revision methodology to categorize the uses of the term Self-as-context in scientific literature. The categories used for the classification were process, procedure and state. Self-as-context is a middle-level term of clinical relevance that did not originate in basic research. Its use occurs in the context of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Relational Frame Theory (RFT),that are, respectively, a psychotherapy model and a theory of language and cognition, intimately related and located in the behaviorist tradition. The goal of this research is to clarify the basic behavior processes involved in the phenomena described by the middle-level term in question. The works findings are as follows: 16% (n=4) of the papers or chapters analyzed use the term to describe a process; 20% (n=5) use it as a procedure; and 64% (n=16) refer to a state when the term is used. In 54,5% (n=12) of the analyzed literature there was no explicit definition of the middle-level term. A definition of self-as-context was proposed and directions for future research were suggested to promote theoretical precision and clarity for effective applications of the concept
