Partindo do neologismo maternalidade, que Paul-Claude Racamier propõe para nomear o conjunto de processos psicoafetivos que se desenvolvem e se integram na mulher durante a maternidade, esta tese irá propor a compreensão desta vivência como uma situação com potencial traumático. Analisarei os modos de viver e sofrer a experiência da maternidade, sem dar foco à psicopatologia e sim ao que parece ser próprio, de modo amplo, de quem passa por essa vivência. Esta pesquisa é realizada com o método psicanalítico, que se baseia no enquadre da situação analítica, na associação livre e na atenção flutuante. Os materiais clínicos a partir dos quais formulei minhas questões e que orientaram minha pesquisa vieram de três fontes: entrevistas individuais, um grupo de reflexão e vinhetas clínicas de atendimento em meu consultório particular. Tais materiais foram tratados como fatos clínicos e transformados em pequenas vinhetas que foram inseridas em diálogo com a teoria, ao longo do texto. Uma vez que esta pesquisa está atenta aos modos de viver a maternidade no mundo contemporâneo, proponho um diálogo com o sociólogo Hartmut Rosa, que estuda este momento histórico, chamado por ele de Modernidade Tardia. A partir das ideias de Donald Winnicott, acerca do amor materno e setting social será discutida a importância do ambiente mais próximo à dupla mãe-bebê na vivência da maternidade. Acompanhada das contribuições de Leopoldo Nosek, proponho que, diante de eventos inéditos da vida, é preciso buscar novas respostas; e que, para viver algo novo e aprender com isso, é preciso se deixar afetar por essa nova situação, ser tomado pelo assombro e confiar no que poderá advir. A partir de uma vinheta clínica em articulação com as ideias de Regine Prat, Leopoldo Nosek e Renné Roussillon, apresento uma discussão sobre o impacto da entrada na parentalidade, especialmente na maternidade, tomada como uma situação com potencial traumático e compreendida como um momento de intensa exigência de trabalho psíquico. Em seguida, analiso os trabalhos psíquicos que precisam ser acionados na entrada da parentalidade. Michel de MUzan, Didier Anzieu e Renné Roussillon serão interlocutores fundamentais para minha argumentação. Proponho que há um trabalho psíquico específico deste momento que podemos nomear de trabalho da maternalidade / da parentalidade. Com Rozsika Parker discuto a ambivalência materna, seus impasses e sua relação com uma vivência criativa na maternidade. O percurso desta tese levou-me à construção de um novo conceito, a metapsicologia da maternidade, a partir da admissão de que há algo próprio da experiência da maternalidade que podemos supor que aconteça de modo amplo com as mulheres que se tornam mães, que inclui o choque, o arrebatamento, o saisissement (De MUzan), o assombro, uma regressão, a perda da identidade anterior e a reordenação de uma nova identidade, evento sempre processual e interminável. Há ainda a compreensão de que o funcionamento psíquico dos pais sobretudo da mãe obedece, portanto, a uma nova tópica, que inclui a representação mental da criança no território psíquico parental

Starting from the neologism motherhood, which Paul-Claude Racamier proposes to name the set of psycho-affective processes that develop and integrate in women during maternity, this thesis will propose the understanding of this experience as a situation with traumatic potential. I will analyze the ways of living and suffering the experience of motherhood, without focusing on psychopathology, but on what seems to be characteristic, in a broad way, of those who go through this experience. This research is carried out using the psychoanalytic method, which is based on the setting of the analytic situation, free association and free-floating attention. The clinical materials from which I formulated my questions and guided my research came from three sources: individual interviews, a reflection group, and clinical vignettes of care in my private practice. Such materials were treated as clinical facts and transformed into small vignettes that were inserted in dialogue with the theory, throughout the text. Since this research is attentive to the ways of living maternity in the contemporary world, I propose a dialogue with the sociologist Hartmut Rosa, who studies this historical moment, which he called Late Modernity. Based on Donald Winnicott's ideas about maternal love and social setting, the importance of the closest environment to the motherbaby couple in the experience of maternity will be discussed. Accompanied by the contributions of Leopoldo Nosek, I propose that, in the face of unprecedented events in life, it is necessary to seek new answers; and that, in order to experience something new and learn from it, it is necessary to be astonished, it is necessary to allow oneself to be affected by this new situation, to be taken by astonishment and trust in what can come from then on. From a clinical vignette in conjunction with the ideas of Regine Prat, Leopoldo Nosek and Renné Roussillon, I present a discussion about the impact of entering parenthood, especially motherhood, taken as a situation with traumatic potential and understood as a moment which requires intense psychic work. Next, I analyze the psychic works that need to be activated at the beginning of the parenthood. Michel de MUzan, Didier Anzieu and Renné Roussillon will be key interlocutors for my argument. I propose that there is a specific psychic work at this moment that we can call the work of motherhood / parenthood. With Rozsika Parker I discuss maternal ambivalence, its impasses and its relationship with a creative experience in maternity. The course of this thesis led me to the construction of a new concept, the metapsychology of the maternity, from the admission that there is something specific to the experience of motherhood that we can assume that happens in a broad way with women who become mothers, which includes the shock, the rapture, the saisissement (De M'Uzan), the astonishment, a regression, the loss of the previous identity and the reordering of a new identity, an event that is always processual and interminable. There is also the understanding that the psychic functioning of the parents especially the mother therefore obeys a new topic, which includes the mental representation of the child in the parental psychic territory
