Abstract in English
This master's thesis aims to map the multiple dimensions of students' psychic suffering at the facilities of the University of São Paulo dormitory, known as CRUSP. Being admitted to college is a moment of disrupting and resetting one's identity, in which one distances oneself from original references and enters a new world having new references and rules. Facing this new reality may be the source of a crisis that manifests in several manners and reflects the context of malaise experienced in contemporary times. In-campus accommodations, as part of the policies aimed at ensuring student permanence, are a space where students attending college may live during the period of their undergraduate or graduate courses. The possibility of effective belonging to college, for many students, is linked to student permanence, especially accommodations. In this thesis, we use psychoanalysis as a theoretical and methodological perspective of participative intervention research, employing methodological procedures such as cartography, understood as means for listening to the territory, and operative interview as a clinical device. Based on listening to the CRUSP territory, we notice there are overlapping transition processes in college accommodations: from youth to adulthood and from the original world to the world of college. Such overlap between worlds might become even more complex when we acknowledge that there are issues involving social class and race, and that access to university is considered a possibility for social mobility. We highlight there is a constant feeling of a threat in CRUSP living, which constitutes a state of precariousness of social objects, according to Jean Furtos's concept. Moreover, we notice there is a crisis currently in course throughout and beyond the CRUSP context, in which there is a constant uncertainty in relation to the security and stability that institutions can offer to subjects - a phenomenon René Kaës names absence of responders. In college accommodations, the effect of primary demands chronically not being responded to may lead to a state of increasing helplessness, which affects the students mental health. Listening in transference to the interviewees leads us to think there is, in CRUSP, something in the order of the unrepresentable or of trauma, which demands testimony and interlocution. At the conclusion of this thesis, we point out the importance of creating devices for supporting and anchoring students so that their crossing through college life may take place less painfully
