Keywords in Portuguese
Narcisismo
Psicanálise

About narcissism: a theoretical clinical study on a psychoanalytical perspective
Keywords in English
Narcissism
Psychoanalysis
Abstract in English
This work studies narcissism from three investigative vertices that are: clinical experience, psychoanalytical theory and Greek mythology. The author started from the observation of some psychological phenomena that frequently emerge in the analytical relation and found out that if not adequately worked on, they may make a good analyses' performance difficult or even prevent it. These psychological phenomena were studied according to the Freudian narcissism theory and the contributions offered by the Kleinian theory of the position and object relations with the addition of an investigative model represented by the Narcissus' myth as described by Ovid in Metamorphosis. It was concluded that Narcissism is a comprehensive psychological phenomenon that is present in all human psychology and has a large spectrum that goes from normality to pathology, and the arising of narcissist altitudes is conversely proportional to the degree of psychological development. And paradoxically, in spite of the narcissist defenses starting to supply a lack of a well constituted sense of identity and integrity of the self, it is its presence ant acting that will make the psychological development difficult or even prevent it, creating a vicious circle that is important to the interrupted during analyses
