O presente texto de dissertação de mestrado tem por objetivo apresentar o trabalho de Manoel Bomfim, médico, psicólogo, historiador, literato e intelectual brasileiro do século 19. Nascido em Aracaju em 08/08/1868. No que diz respeito principalmente ao desenvolvimento da temática da desigualdade social, sua compreensão e elaboração na sua principal obra: América Latina: Males de Origem, publicada em 1905. Para além desta obra foram consultados autores contemporâneos, ou referidos por serem de interesse para a linha Problemas Teóricos e Metodológicos da Pesquisa Psicológica. O trabalho foi desenvolvido com base na metodologia hermenêutica gadameriana, que consiste na compreensão do fenômeno cuja relação na interpretação é de cunho bidirecional. Diante do que foi trabalhado, a dissertação se organizou em três momentos principais. Primeiro na compreensão de quem foi Manoel Bomfim, e as principais características de América Latina: Males de Origem, em diálogo com colaboradores, que também desenvolveram pesquisas a respeito de seus escritos. Focando na questão da desigualdade social e sua relação com a tese do parasitismo em Bomfim. Após isso, foi feita a retomada das repercussões históricas, sociais e psicológicas do processo de colonização na desigualdade social brasileira por autores contemporâneos que abordaram questões tangentes ao texto de Bomfim. E por último, em retorno a psicologia cultural, e em diálogo com Valsiner, foi proposto a discussão da educação não missionária e não parasitária, para compor com as contribuições da área e reafirmar a importância de Manoel Bomfim nos debates mais atuais

The present text of master's thesis aims to present the work of Manoel Bomfim, physician, psychologist, historian, literati, and Brazilian intellectual of the 19th century. Born in Aracaju on 08/08/1868. With regard mainly to the development of the theme of social inequality, his understanding and elaboration in his main work: Latin America: Males of Origin, published in 1905. In addition to this work, contemporary authors were consulted, or referred to because they are of interest to the line Theoretical and Methodological Problems of the psychological research The work was developed based on the Gadamerian hermeneutic methodology, which consists in understanding the phenomenon whose relationship in interpretation is bidirectional in nature. In view of what was worked, the dissertation was organized in three main moments. First in the understanding of who Manoel Bomfim was, and the main characteristics of6 Latin America: Evils of Origin, in dialogue with collaborators, who also developed research on his writings. Focusing on the issue of social inequality and its relationship with the thesis of parasitism into Bomfim. After that, the historical, social, and psychological repercussions of the colonization process on Brazilian social inequality were resumed by contemporary authors who addressed issues tangential to Bomfim's text. And finally, in return for cultural psychology, and in dialogue with Valsiner, it was proposed the discussion of non-missionary and non-parasitic education, to commend with the contributions of the area and reaffirm the importance of Manoel Bomfim in the most current debates
