Desenvolve a padronização do teste brasileiro de proverbio (TBP), de silva (1989) para o estado de São Paulo. Analisa o desenvolvimento cognitivo infantil, através do uso de provérbios para compreender a maneira pela qual a criança pensa a luz de concepções teóricas de Piaget, Vygotsky e Bruner. Os ss são 1075 crianças e adolescentes, com idade entre 8 e 15 anos, de 18 escolas publicas e uma particular, de 3 diferentes regiões do estado: 1) região de Ribeirão Preto (n=455); 2) região do Vale do Ribeira (n=120); 3) região metropolitana de São Paulo (n=500). Categoriza os ss em faixas etárias: a) 8 a 9 anos e 11 meses; b) 11 a 12 anos e 11 meses; c) 14 a 15 anos e 11 meses. Avalia a homogeneidade do teste através das matrizes de correlações de Pearson e realiza analise de variância para as variáveis: idade, serie escolar e região. Elabora normas através das ordens percentuais de cada tipo de resposta em relação as 3 faixas etárias, para o estado de São Paulo. Verifica que o TBP e adequado para a faixa etária de 8 a 9 anos e 11 meses. Sugere o estudo da validade de critério preditiva, comparando os resultados do TBP com notas escolares, como forma de melhorar a consistência dos resultados obtidos na pesquisa

The present work has the objective of Brazilian Proverbs Test (Silva, 1989) standardization to São Paulo State population. The Brazilian Proverbs Test was applied to 1075 children and teenagers in the age of 8 to 15 years old, from 18 public schools and one private sschool from three different regions of the State: I. Ribeirão Preto's region (Ribeirão Preto, Santo Antônio da Alegria and Porto Ferreira); 2. Ribeira's Valley region (Barra do Turvo and Registro) and; 3. São Paulo's Metropolitan region (Caieiras, Mogi das Cruzes and são Paulo). In Ribeirão Preto's region the TBP was applied to 455 children and teenagers. In Ribeira's Valley region it was applied to 120 children and teenagers. And, in São Paulo's Metropolitan region it was applied to 500 children and adolescents. The internal consistency of the test was evaluated and the ANOVA was analysed for the variables: age, school series and region.Norms were done through elaboration of the percentile post for all the State
