Abstract in English
The purpose of this research is to analyze the Freudian theory on the fragility of the superego of women. In the first chapter we follow the theoretical route of Freud in relation to the destinies of women's sexuality, in order to establish the elements which permitted the formulation of a less independent and strict superego. In women tine castration complex triggers the penis envy leading the girl into the Oedippus complex and keeping her there. Since the superego is the Oedipus complex heir, it can't come into existence while the girl stays attached to her father. Furthermore, the primary relationship with the mother is not overcome either, and women are unable to surpass the pre genital phases of libido and its incestuous objects. The fear of the loss of love is the substitute for women of the castration anxiety in men, and women therefore remain more dependent of the parental instance and with little moral autonomy. In the second chapter, the construction and development of the superego and ego ideal conceptions are investigated. We point out how paradoxical it is to designate the superego as a moral instance, since it acts in a cruel and tyrannical way in relation to the ego, attending to the aggressive instinct and against the life instinct. The ego ideal is related to the superego and its aspect as a narcissistic reference to the ego is highlighted. It is verified that the secondary identification which takes part in the constitution of the superego andego ideal, is a problem for women because they do not give up their father's love, or only do it behindhand. In the third chapter, enhancing the fact that woman narcissism is severely damaged by the castration complex and that the constitution of the ego ideal is complicated, if not impossible, we examine the only possible way to restore her narcissism, which is through maternity. The historical context of women in the beginning of the century is analyzed, based on Freud's criticism to the social restrictions imposed on women by civilization. The purpose of checking Freud's position in respect to that matter is to point out that the only socially worthy place for women in his time coincides with the only healthy destiny for women's sexuality in his theory, which is the desire to be a mother. The impasse created in the Freudian theory by not indicating a way out to the penis envy and detailing the passage to feminine adult sexuality, prevents the assumption of a well established superego
