Utilizou-se a espectroscopia Raman com o objetivo de monitorar os processos de oxidação que ocorre no eletrodo de prata numa solução 0,1M de NaOH e 0,5mM de iodeto, [Ag/OH-(0,1M)/I-(0,5mM)]. Procurou-se também caracterizar as espécies adsorvidas. Os espectros Raman da superfície do eletrodo foram obtidos de várias maneiras para se delinear as condições experimentais onde a espécie oxidada de iodeto é estável. Foram também obtidos os espectros de várias espécies plausíveis de serem o produto de oxidação do iodeto. Os estudos espectroscópicos foram complementados com resultados de voltametria cíclica de eletrodo de prata e platina. Neste trabalho é proposto a eletrooxidação do iodeto a di-hidrogênioortoperiodato (H2IO63-) no intervalo de potencial de 0,0-0,2V. Para potenciais mais positivos foi constatado a oxidação de iodeto pelo AgO. A espécie adsorvida na superfície do eletrodo foi caracterizada como um composto entre o íon (Ag(I) e o H2IO63-.

The Raman spectroscopy has been used for monitoring the oxidation processes that occur on the silver electrode surface in a 0.1M NaOH aquous solution containing 0.5mM iodide, [Ag/OH-(0.1M)/I-(0.5mM)]. The adsorbed species is also characterized. The Raman spectra of the electrode surface were obtained in different ways in order to delineate the experimental condition where the oxidized species is stable. The Ramon spectra of several compounds wich should be the oxidized species were compared with the surface spectra. The spectroscopic studies were complemented by ciclic voltametric results for silver and platinum electrodes. In this work it is proposed the electro oxidation of iodide to silver dihidrogen ortoperiodate (H2IO63-) in 0.0-0.2V potencial range. For more positive potencials was confirmed the oxidation of iodide by AgO. The adsorbed species is characterized as a surface compound between silver(I) e H2IO63-.
