Um estudo da distribuição de foraminíferos bentônicos realizado na Enseada de Ubatuba-SP, permitiu a partir da análise de 104 amostras classificar e descrever 81 espécies e relacioná-las aos sedimentos. As assembléias de foraminíferos foram correlacionadas com vários parâmetros abióticos previamente obtidos. Algumas espécies foram fotografadas ao microscópio de varredura eletrônica para uma classificação taxonômica mais precisa, e com base na quantificação das espécies foi possível aplicar índices ecológicos como riqueza de espécies, dominância, diversidade e equitabilidade. Entre as espécies analisadas ammonia beccarii destacou-se, por abundância numérica e diferenciação morfológica, refletindo variações de temperatura de correntes marinhas da área. Os testemunhos revelaram diferenças entre si, como variações de litologia e de energia na deposição do pacote sedimentar.

A classification and description of 81 species and its relation to the sediments was provided by the study of the distribution of bentonic foraminifers based on 104 sarnple for Ubatuba Bay, Ubatuba. The assembly of foraminifers were related to the various no biotic parameters previously obtaired. Some of the species were photographed by eletronic scanning microscope in order to establish a more precise taxonomic classification. Based on the species quantification, it was possible to apply ecological index as richness, dominance, diversity and equity of species. Among the species analysed, Ammonia beccarii should be mentioned for its abundance and morphological differenciation, which reflects temperature variations of maritime currents in the area. The testimonies revealed differences among themselves as litology variations and in the energy spent in the deposition of the sedimentary layer.
