Abstract in Portuguese
Na Associação V, ocorrem álcali-feldspato granitos alaranjados (fácies Va) e sienitos a quartzo sienitos inequigranulares a porfiríticos (matriz afanítica a média), amarelo-rosados (fácies Vb).

Abstract in English
The "Joaquim Murtinho alaskitic granite", as represented in the Joaquim Murtinho Geologìcal Sheet (CCGP, 1970a), was mapped at a 1:50.000 scale, together with neighboring areas. The granitoid rocks were separated into 13 facies, grouped into 5 mappable Facies Associations. The Facies Association I is formed by facies Ia (mainly monzogranites), Ib and Ic (both porphyritic monzogranites and granodiorites). Association lI is constituted by facies IIa (mainly monzogranites, slightly foliated) and facies IIb (monzogranites and granodiorites). Association III shows cataclastic granites to granodiorites (facies IIIa). Association IV is formed by alkali-feldspar granites (facies IVa, IVb, IVc and IVd) and dikes of porphyritic granitoids (facies IVe). Association V is composed by facies Va (alkali-feldspar granites) and Vb (syenites to quartz syenites). Other identified stratigraphic units were the "Serra das Pedras Quartzite", mylonites, rocks of the Castro Group, sandstones of the Furnas Formation, diabases related to the Serra Geral Formation, and Cenozoic sediments. The granitoid sequence of emplacement begins with the intrusion of Association l, followed by Association II (facies IIa prior to or contemporary to facies IIb), ending with the intrusion of rocks of the associations IV and V; facies IVe, however, is the latest intrusion. Association III is probably later than Associations I and II, and earlier than, or contemporary with, rocks of the Associations IV and V. The definition of the stratigraphic "Joaquim Murtinho Granite" unit by the Committee for the Geological Chart of Paraná is considered deficient, mainly because Iittle or no field control was exercised, and the same unit name was used, in different reports, for granites lying 35 km apart. It is here suggested to apply the name "Joaquim Murtinho Granite" only to the Facies Association IV and V, that is, rocks showing "alaskitic" compositions. The five Facies Associations are an integral part of the large and still poorly defined "Cunhaporanga Granitic Complex". It may also be possible that Associations IV and V represent the intrusive counterparts of the acid volcanic rocks belonging to the Castro Group. So far, chemical and isotopic data are missing for these granitoids. Taking into consideration only petrographic and geological aspects, Facies Associations IV and V are similar to A-type granites, while Association I are equivalent to I-type granites. The areas with larger potential for mineralizations are the ones occupied by Associations IV and V, and the contact zones between the different Associations.
