Determination of the spontaneous electrical polarization of ferroelectric liquid crystals of high electrical conductivity due to the presence of ions

Abstract in English
The behaviour of the spontaneous electric polarization dependence of the temperature is studied with two high conductivity samples (C8H17O and C12H25O). We studied the behaviour of the different harmonics which compose the signal of the electric polarization and showed to be an adequate method to determine the spontaneous electric polarization. The phase transition Sc*-Sa* was determined by analysing the complex electric permittivity behaviour as a function of the temperature.
