Abstract in English
The structure and ultra structure of the subepicardic plexus (SP) of undernourished rats with a hypoproteic diet (5% of casein) during pre and postnatal periods with 21 days (D) and 42 days (DD) were evaluated. Animals at the same age groups and submitted to a normal diet (20% of casein) formed the respective controls (N, NN). Group D animals, which were submitted to a normal diet from the 22nd to the 42nd day, established Group RN. The whole mount was taken from cardiac atria and stained by histochemical techniques (NADH, NADPH, AChE). Ganglia collagen and elastic fibers were analysed in histological sections stained by regular methods of histology. The neuron components ultra-structure was analysed in all groups (N, D, NN, DD and RN). The protein deprivation promoted ultra-structural alteration in groups D and DD animal weight, number of NADH reactive neurons and size of NADPH reactive neurons. It was concluded that there is a delay in SP structure development with protein deprivation.
