Por meio de seus jogos, cada povo consegue expressar sua cultura e manter vivas suas tradições, crenças e imaginário. Com o intuito de aprimorar o diálogo necessário entre os jogos tradicionais, as comunidades tradicionais - seus modos de vida, lazer, atividades físicas e esportivas - e a cultura de outros habitantes do litoral, esta pesquisa fala de um lugar onde o tradicional está localizado na gestualidade atual, com elementos que atravessam tempos e espaços diferenciados, perdurando desde épocas remotas até os dias atuais. Na análise de materiais de pesquisa é possível perceber que estes jogos preservam elementos estruturantes da humanidade, dialogam livremente com as realidades locais e ainda, se reinventam a partir de sua estrutura profunda. São referências importantes não só para os envolvidos diretamente em suas práticas, mas para toda a humanidade, por fazerem parte de um sistema de imagens e repertórios comuns do homem. Os caiçaras são uma comunidade tradicional que vive no litoral das regiões Sul e Sudeste do Brasil, e mantém seu cotidiano e repertório imagético estritamente conectado com o mar. É dali que retiram seu sustento, sua força, energia, fonte de alimento e renda, e também elementos fundamentais de sua cultura. É no mar que o homem se faz caiçara, e é também na água em que os principais jogos acontecem. Estabelecendo diálogos entre diferentes grupos caiçaras, a pesquisa relaciona elementos da cultura de cidades do litoral paulista, em especial a Baixada Santista, com elementos da cultura caiçara tradicional. A ideia é refletir acerca da influência das práticas corporais na identidade dessas comunidades. Este enquadramento é selecionado pela proximidade entre as culturas desses agrupamentos, que dividem práticas, costumes e atividades similares. A pesquisa tem caráter qualitativo, valendo-se da fenomenologia para coleta de dados, observação e descrição do fenômeno, além de elencar e descrever categorias de análise. A metodologia procura compreender a importância e o significado dos jogos caiçaras na identidade das comunidades. Tem por objetivo investigar a relação dos jogos com a criação, o resgate, a ressignificação e a manutenção da identidade caiçara; bem como investigar como as relações entre os jogos, o corpo, o ambiente, os indivíduos, o espaço e a identidade dos povos caiçaras se relacionam

Through their games, each group can express their culture and keep alive their traditions, beliefs and imaginary. In order to improve the necessary dialogue between traditional games, traditional communities - their lifestyles, leisure, physical and sports activities - and the culture of other inhabitants of the coast, this research locates the traditional in the current gesture, with elements that penetrate different times and spaces, from remote times to the present day. In the analysis of research materials it is possible to perceive that these games preserve the structuring elements of humanity, dialogue with the local realities and reinvent themselves from their deep structure. They are important references not only for those directly involved in their practices, but for all of humanity, because they are part of a system of images and common repertories of humankind. The Caiçaras are a traditional community that lives on the coast of the South and Southeast of Brazil, and keeps their daily life and imaginary repertoire strictly connected with the sea. It is from the sea that they withdraw their sustenance, their strength, energy, source of food and income, and also fundamental elements of their culture. It is in the sea that man becomes Caiçara, and it is also in the water where the main games happen. Establishing dialogues between different Caiçara groups, the research compound cultural elements of cities on the coast of São Paulo, with elements of the traditional Caiçara culture. The idea is to think about the influence of bodily practices on the identity of these communities. This framework is selected by the proximity between the cultures of these groupings, which share practices, habits and similar activities. The research has a qualitative character, using phenomenology for data collection, observation and description of the phenomenon, besides listing and describing categories of analysis. The methodology seeks to understand the importance and significance of Caiçaras games in the identity of communities. It aims to investigate the relation of the games with the creation, the rescue, the resignification and the maintenance of the Caiçara identity; as well as to investigate how the relationships between games, body, environment, individuals, space and identity of Caiçaras peoples are related
