O esporte se manifesta de forma plural na sociedade, logo as organizações envolvidas na gestão do esporte também são abrangentes e plurais quanto às suas finalidades (BASTOS; MAZZEI, 2020). Partindo desse ponto, identificou-se a oportunidade de se fazer um mapeamento, buscando-se entender a configuração das Entidades envolvidas no basquetebol de alto rendimento nacional. A modalidade possui conquistas internacionais expressivas, contudo nas últimas décadas não tem atingido resultados convincentes. Observando-se que mais recentemente há uma mobilização pelas Entidades de administração e de prática para promoção do crescimento e (re)estruturação da modalidade se propôs um estudo qualitativo para compreender e avaliar a gestão do esporte de alto de rendimento da modalidade basquetebol, masculino e feminino, no Brasil. Foram entrevistados gestores de 2 Entidades de Administração e 7 de Prática partindo-se de 10 pontos importantes para se atingir sucesso internacional em esporte de alto rendimento (GRENN; OAKLEY, 2001). A partir dos resultados obtidos pode se averiguar as Entidades demonstram preocupação e entendimento da necessidade de profissionalização de suas gestões, apesar de hierarquizada a cadeia aparentemente não apresenta papéis bem definidos entre suas Entidades, o financiamento é misto, proveniente de diversas fontes de recursos, contudo se mostra escasso, há preocupação na realização de competições, entretanto não são identificadas diretrizes e ações, tão pouco um sistema de desenvolvimento do talento esportivo, a níveis nacionais, cabendo ainda aos clubes tais desenvolvimentos, entre outros aspectos. Os achados encontram-se em consonância com resultados de outros estudos envolvendo diferentes modalidades no país (MEIRA, 2011; SILVA FILHO, 2014; NOGUEIRA, 2014, RIBEIRO, 2012; LIMA, 2020)

Sport manifests itself in a plural way in society, so the organizations involved in sport management are also comprehensive and plural in terms of their purposes (BASTOS; MAZZEI, 2020). Starting from this point, an opportunity was identified to map the configuration of the Entities involved in national high-performance basketball. The national basketball teams have significant international achievements, however in recent decades it has not achieved convincing results. Noting that more recently organizations that manage and promote practice of basketball in the country are mobilizing their efforts to generate growth and to (re)structuring the modality, a qualitative study was proposed to understand and evaluate the management of the high-performance sport of the basketball modality, male and female, in Brazil.Managers from 2 Administration Entities and 7 Practice Entities were interviewed, starting from 10 important points to achieve international success in high performance sports (GRENN; OAKLEY, 2001). From the results obtained, it can be verified that the Entities demonstrate concern and understanding of the need of management professionalization, although the chain apparently does not present itself well-defined; the financing is mixed, from several sources of resources, however seems scarce; there is concern in the realization of competitions, however guidelines and actions are not identified, nor a system for the development of sports talent, at national levels, and it is still up to clubs such developments; among other aspects. The findings are in line with the results of other studies involving different modalities in the country (MEIRA, 2011; SILVA FILHO, 2014; NOGUEIRA, 2014, RIBEIRO, 2012; LIMA, 2020)
