Abstract in English
The aim of the present work was to investigate the nature of the motor behavior of the expert, considering the relationship between the amount of experience and the performance of cognitive tasks within the context of the sport handball. We questioned whether being an expert was a result of a well developed knowledge based or due to the cumulative experience. The sample was composed by eleven handball athletes, including ten who have played for one of the three best teams which participated in the Juniors state championship. There was also one subject who did not take part in that championship, but had played for one of those teams in the previous year. The subject performed four tasks. The first was a questionnaire to measure the amount of deliberate practice of the subjects (independent variable). The other three tasks (test of knowledge, remembering of positions and the number the appropriate answers) elicit the alternative hypothesis, that is, there was no significant correlation between the independent variable (experience) expressed in hours of practice and the dependent variable (cognitive performance)
