Abstract in English
In the present work, not only the song roduction, but the career of Adoniran Barbosa, were studied with the main goal of its relationship with the urbanity of São Paulo, especially during the 1950s. Recognized by critics and the public as an important representative of the tradition narrative of São Paulo samba, his compositions function as truly musical chronicles in which the sociability of the city, its urban dynamics and its transformations were recorded. As a result, the memory of the artist and his production were deeply linked to the city's identity. The study of the poetic and performative treatment of his work, as well as the conjuncture of the period and the strategies employed by the artist hroughout his career helped us to understand better how this identification was constructed and consolidated. On the other hand, we also try to understand how the urbanity of São Paulo has not only shaped the compositions, but the professional path and the artist's own identity.
