O trabalho tem como objetivo observar como uma determinada narrativa - as histórias sobre Zé Mochila - coloca em evidência representações e práticas sociais compartilhadas por uma comunidade de pessoas em diferentes municípios do agreste pernambucano. O período de divulgação das histórias e de manifestação de uma identidade social através dessas práticas está compreendido entre o início da transmissão, em 1950, e mantém-se até os dias atuais, em 2022. Os dados levantados revelam um significativo espalhamento da narrativa, que circula por ao menos 11 municípios do agreste pernambucano e também em outros 4 estados do país. Dado que se trata de uma circulação oral, as fontes orais são os principais documentos da pesquisa, de modo que as reflexões metodológicas centram-se, sobretudo, no trabalho com História Oral, no que diz respeito à realização e análise de entrevistas, e com o estabelecimento das fontes. O trabalho teórico e interpretativo foi realizado a partir de um estabelecimento de relações com distintos modelos teóricos e, por conseguinte, da análise das aproximações e dos desvios produzidos por essas combinações. A partir delas, é possível observar a forma como se situam os sujeitos de um grupo social mediante o diferencial de poder estabelecido pelas disputas simbólicas em prol da hegemonia dos seus valores.

This work aims to observe how a determined kind of narrative - the stories about Zé Mochila - highlights representation and social practices, shared by communities in different municipalities of Pernambucos countryside. The dissemination period of stories and the manifestation of a social identity through these practices follow the beginning of their transmission, in 1950, until the present-day - 2022. The collected data reveal a significant spread of that narrative, circulating in at least 11 municipalities in the countryside Pernambuco and 4 other Brazilian states. Given that it is an oral flow/spread, the oral sources are the main documents of this research. Therefore the methodological reflections are focused on working with Oral History - conducting and analyzing interviews, and establishing sources. The theoretical and interpretive work was executed through the establishment of correlations between distinctive theoretical models and, consequently, the analysis of approximations and deviations produced by this amalgam. Through this mixture, it is possible to observe the way in which the subjects of a social group are situated through the power imbalances established by the symbolic disputes in favor of the hegemony of their values.
