O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar o livro Cadernos de João, de Aníbal Machado, estabelecendo relações entre os textos que compõem a obra, no intuito de compreender sua complexidade organizacional. Esse viés foi escolhido com base na dificuldade de se verificar a unidade deste livro, que reúne dois outros anteriores - ABC das catástrofes - Topografia da insônia e Poemas em prosa -, acrescidos de textos inéditos, configurando um novo livro. Esta dificuldade se dá pelo fato de os livros originários, principalmente Poemas em prosa, não obedecerem sua ordem primitiva. Também os textos que configuram esta nova obra apresentam-se em diversos gêneros, tais como poemas, poemas em prosa, aforismos, fragmentos e, além disso, há a escolha do autor pelo uso de tipografias variadas. Esta análise será realizada observando ainda o olhar que o escritor lança sobre as questões impostas pela modernidade, como o destino humano e a ideia de dignidade, além do modo pelo qual o escritor transfigura a realidade em sua obra.

The present work intends to analyze the book "Cadernos de João", by Aníbal Machado, establishing relationships between the texts that compose the work in order to understand its organizational complexity. This guideline was chosen based on the difficulty of verifying the unity of this book, which brings together two previous ones - "ABC das catástrofes - Topografia da insônia" and "Poemas em prosa" -, and other unpublished texts, configuring a new book. This difficulty is due to the fact that the original books, especially "Poemas em prosa", do not obey their primitive order. Also, the texts that configure this new work are presented in several genres, such as poems, prose poems, aphorisms, fragments and, in addition, there is the author's choice for the use of various typographies. This analysis will be performed by observing the look that the writer takes on the issues imposed by modernity, such as human destiny and the idea of dignity, as well as the way in which the writer transfigures reality in his work.
