Abstract in English
Through the observation of the "Imperatriz Leopoldinense Honrosamente Apresenta: Leopoldina, a Imperatriz do Brasil" parade, vice-champion in the year of 1996, this essay aims to establish a look on the fragments that constitute Rosa Magalhães' work. Initially, this dissertation shows in what way the parade promoted by the escolas de samba constituted as a representative phenomenon in Brazilian culture. In a second moment, the focus shifts to the carnavalesco's construction process, hallmark character of the artistic creation at escolas de samba, a function gestated from the decade of 1960. Lastly, from the proposed work of Rosa Magalhães', the intention is to reunite the fragments responsible for the visual creation of the artist's parades. The conversation with historiography, literature and pictorial art, evident on the carnavalesca's work, propose reflections on the art produced by the carnival, its reach and influence inside the party itself. The artist is also inserted in a process in which artistic creation inside the escolas de samba acquires a spectacular character through, mainly, the advancement of a rationalization process of the celebration.
